We are overjoyed to announce that, after two long and challenging years, The St Eval Community Land Project has finally been granted the official legal document - a 10-year lease - that solidifies our custodianship of the beloved St Eval Meadow.
This significant milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for the meadow, which has long been a treasured community space. The uncertainty surrounding the future of the meadow began when the permissions for its use were brought into question two years ago, placing its future in jeopardy.
Since then, we have been fighting not just for a piece of land, but for the heart of our community - a place where people of all ages come together to enjoy nature, participate in outdoor activities, and help the environment flourish.
Securing this lease ensures that the meadow will remain a protected haven for the next decade, allowing us to continue our work in maintaining and nurturing the space. It also means that our commitment to making the meadow a hub of biodiversity and a source of well-being for the local community can now move forward without fear of disruption.
A Shared Victory
This victory belongs to all of us. It is a testament to the unwavering support from the local community, the tireless work of our volunteers, and the generosity of those who have contributed their time and resources to help preserve the meadow. Whether you helped with tree planting, attended meetings, or simply spent an afternoon enjoying the wildflowers and wildlife, your involvement has made a real difference.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our legal team and advisors, who worked diligently to secure this lease. Their efforts have ensured that the meadow remains a community space where everyone can benefit from the beauty and tranquillity of nature.
What’s Next for St Eval Meadow?
Now that we have this lease in hand, we can shift our focus fully towards the exciting future that lies ahead. Over the next 10 years, we plan to:
Enhance biodiversity: By creating more habitats for local wildlife and planting a variety of native species, we aim to further support the natural ecosystem of the meadow.
Educational programs: We will continue to offer environmental education programs for local schools and community groups, encouraging a deeper connection between people and nature.
Community events: The meadow will remain a space for gatherings, celebrations, and outdoor activities that foster a sense of unity and well-being.
Sustainable practices: Our goal is to maintain the meadow using eco-friendly and sustainable methods, ensuring it remains a thriving green space for generations to come.
A Space for Everyone
The St Eval Meadow is not just a piece of land; it is a symbol of our collective commitment to preserving the natural environment and fostering a strong, connected community. We are excited to see how the meadow will continue to flourish, and we welcome everyone to get involved, whether by volunteering, attending events, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
As we celebrate this momentous achievement, we are reminded that together, we can achieve great things. The future of St Eval Meadow is bright, and we look forward to continuing this journey with all of you by our side.
Thank you for standing with us—let’s continue to grow together.
